Michael Connerty
Michael Connerty teaches film and animation history in IADT, Dun Laoghaire. He has taught on other areas of visual culture, particularly the history and theory of comics, which is where his energies are currently directed. In the past he has performed numerous roles in Darklight, interviewing guests, and curating a number of programmes of animation and experimental cinema. He has written and performed with two of Dublin’s premiere underground rock and roll bands, Female Hercules and Mouthpiece.

The Strange and Magical World of Czech Animation

A rare screening of 35mm prints of films by the masters of Czech puppet and stop-motion animation: Karel Zeman, Jiri Barta, Jan Svankmajer, and Jiri Trnka. The films, by turns arresting and beautiful, odd and surreal, have huge influence in contemporary animation and include a couple of Oscar-winners.
