FRANK AND MARIE by Matthew Causey (54:00 IRL 2004)
Set against the backdrop of contemporary Dublin , Matthew Causey's dark, emotionally compelling drama centres on the titular Frank and Marie who have a child together but find themselves unable to relate. The paranoid Frank is seeing things that aren't there while Marie is having an affair behind his back. When Frank finds out about Marie's lover he sets in motion a series of events that will destroy them both. Stylish and provocative, Causey's film is as much a portrait of shattered lives as of the city that surrounds them - a teeming chaotic bric-a-brac of the old and new, familiar and foreign. |
