Greg Maguire - An industry veteran of seventeen years, Greg has been instrumental in the launch and development of numerous heavy -hitters of animation: Walt Disney Feature Animation, Industrial Light & Magic, Electronic Arts, Colossal Pictures, Wild Brain, Sullivan Bluth and Lucasfilm Animation: and finally his own company, Zoogloo LLC in August 2006. His most recent credits include Spiderman Three and Happy Feet.

Greg has more recently served as R&D Supervisor, Character Supervisor and Creature Supervisor at two Lucasfilm Divisions. At Lucasfilm Animation since it's formation in 2003 as a global digital animation studio and at Industrial Light & Magic on the Academy Award nominated, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Prior to his role at Lucasfilm, Greg was Technical Animation Supervisor on Walt Disney Feature Animation's first computer animated feature, Dinosaur. At Disney, he was responsible for creating and maintaining Dinosaur's eighty diverse creatures.

An Irish native, Greg began his career in 1989 at Sullivan Bluth Studios in Dublin, integrating cg into traditional classically animated features. He has also served as Director of 3D at Colossal Pictures and Wild Brain in San Francisco. Where he supervised and animated numerous award winning projects which included work for Peter Gabriel, Coca-Cola, Liquid Television, Walt Disney Television Animation, animated pop icons Hershey's Kisses, Hershey's Twizzlers, Nabisco's Ritz, and Pillsbury's Green Giant.

Andy Buecker- Co-Owner of Zoogloo LLC, Andy has been part of the digital visual effects industry for nearly 12 years. Prior to the formation of Zoogloo, his most recent adventure was as a Lead Character Technical Director at Industrial Light and Magic in San Francisco, where he met his current partner Greg. While at ILM, he developed character rigs and wrote numerous tools for the rigging team, including a motion capture retargeting pipeline. His work is included on such films as Van Helsing, Star Wars Episode 3, The Island, War of the Worlds, Chicken Little, Jarhead, and Pirates of the Caribbean 2

- Before enjoying his stay at ILM, he worked as a freelance artist in New York City with the talented folks at Quietman creating computer generated imagery on national commercial spots for Oral B, Brawny, Pringles, Downy, and Truth.
- Andy's career started off in the video game industry working on characters and immersive environments for The 9, a Tribeca Interactive title, Learning to Read on the Promenade, an endearing children's educational game for Caps, the popular Test Drive Offroad 2 and Jack Nicklaus Golf 5 for Accolade, and Jack Nicklaus Golf 6 for Hypnos Entertainment.
- After a 5 year run in video game industry, he became a Senior Animator at Avid|Softimage supporting clients on location during the initial releases of XSI, developing tools and content for customers and internal productions, and played a role on the pre-sales team for attracting potential customers.
- Andy has also been employed as an instructor for graduate and under-graduate computer graphics studies at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco teaching courses in character .
Course Outline
- 3D Character Pipeline: This masterclass will focus on the nuts and bolts of assembling a character for a 3D animated feature. Using off the shelf software, it will span the technical journey a character must take to get into the hands of an animator.
Application
- Please apply online at www.screentrainingireland.ie by the 22nd of June 2007. Places are limited. Participants will be selected based on relevant experience. There is no fee for this masterclass but participants must be registered for the Darklight Symposium. The registration fee is €50 and includes all other festival events.
