Free Your Film Post: Oh… that layyyydeee

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

My documetary is pretty simple in that it is just exploring the “mystique” of that figure of a lady that appears in so many windows throughout Dublin. Pretty much the entire visual element of my film is in the can, but it’s getting the interviews I want are still proving difficult. Perhaps approaching people as if you’re asking them to take a moment for Concern while wielding nought but a camera phone is where I’m going wrong. This week the plan of attack is to take along my EX1, just for show…

And what to expect visually? Here’s what I’ve been working with so far…

Lady of the Northside

I have also managed to update and edit a lot of the public Google Map that I discovered people had been updating with “Lady sightings”. Now that we’ve street view, she might be even easier to find!

Free Your Film Post: 9lbs, 7oz (and 12st); The story so far…

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Our first post… going good so far. We are closing in on the shoot of “9 Pounds, 7 Ounces (and 12 Stone)”. Pre-production could not have gone much better; all locations locked down, props, set design and costumes obtained, VIVAZ mastered… yep we’re good, but we still have to sort out our actors/most of them.

We’re having a lot of fun with the Sony Ericsson VIVAZ, brilliant quality and ease of use. The sound and video quality is crystal clear… our verdict; Great phone, camera and mp4 all in the the one stylish little package.

We don’t want to give away too much about our short comedy, only that we find ourselves still laughing at it and we’ve been working on it for the last few weeks. It’s full of visual gags and generally weird jokes, really fun to work on, bouncing ideas back and forward.

We’ll be keeping you updated on our production as it progresses. We hope you’ll love the final product.

Free Your Film Competition winners announced!

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

We’re delighted to announce the competition winners of this year’s Darklight movie-making challenge ‘Free Your Film’ run in association with Sony Ericsson.

We received a huge response to our competition, and the standard of entries was extremely high. After much deliberation we decided to increase the number of budgets awarded, – instead of awarding 3 projects budget to produce a short – we’re funding 4 shorts films, providing them with €3000 each! A very big Congratulations to the winners: Carmel Callan, David Freyne, Jessie Ward, Shane Maher & Anthony Fitzsimons. The films will be screened as part of Darklight Festival, on the 28th October 2010 at the Darklight Festival launch Party in the Grand Social.
